Collection: Help Amphan Relief Initiative
-
In the middle of Rahat COVID19, here is another major disaster Cyclone Amphan. Let’s stand with people.
Goonj’s offices are opened for material contribution also with all the limitations as per health guidelines and regulations.
You can send material to our Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kochi, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Rishikesh offices for Rahat COVID19 and Rahat Amphan.
Monetary contributions are the need of the hour to solve the issue locally.
This is an effort driven by ordinary people, mostly locals. Pulak Roy Choudhury, the headmaster of Hingalganj Srishtidhar Institution, is going with a team to the villages to hand over food, clothes, and other essentials.
Feel free to volunteer, since manpower is one of the main needs at the moment. Message on the number given if you wish to volunteer.Pulak Roy Choudhury 9903397815

Cash relief for the Boipara booksellers and help in rebuilding their stocks
The College Street Relief Initiative (CSRI) seeks to collect funds and help the booksellers of College Street sustain themselves during these trying times. We plan to connect with the worst-affected and most vulnerable booksellers and provide them with emergency cash relief to rebuild/restock their shops at the moment.

First there was lockdown, and then Amphan’s arrival further weakened the backbone of Boipara. The fierce, six-hour-long storm washed many bookstalls away, damaging numerous invaluable pieces of literature. At present, the smaller players in boipara are gasping for breath, and desperately looking for assistance to keep their businesses afloat. College Street boipara needs your contribution to survive.
Donations will go towards:
1. Rebuilding shops
2. Replenishing destroyed stocks
3. Generating sales orders online as well as offline
4. Organizing virtual exhibitions and book fairs
5. Providing essentials for basic human sustenance
6. Helping with ensuring stocks and establishments
7. Supporting with legal help, if need be
AID started working intensively with farmers in the region in 2009 after Cyclone Aila devastated Sunderbans exactly 11 years ago. What started as a small group of 20 farmers choosing to rebuild organic and sustainable farming by reviving farmlands from salinity, has grown to a movement of 25000 farmers in the past decade, with outlets established to directly sell produce to consumers in Kolkata.
We have been able to get in touch with Dakshinbanga Matshyajibi Forum (DMF), a registered trade union of small fish workers, who have taken up the daunting task of gathering whatever strength they have to commit to relief work. For the moment, B.B.M.T. is trying to help/raise funds for buying tarpaulin for the Amphan affected families in South Bengal.
THE NEED IS IMMEDIATE!!
